I struggled with this week’s prompt-picture…then struggled with keeping it to 100 words…then changed my form altogether
For all unfamiliar – join up! – “Friday Fictioneers” is a terrific place to read others and exercise one’s own languaging!
Zygoptera
(zygo= joined or pairing; ptera= wings)
.
I have read of the damselfly
they of paired or joined wings
that lie paralleled and close
in their similarities
unlike others
of a horizontal differencing
.
it seems we each begin
as only one
lop-sided and clumsy
but eager to fly
flapping, leaping
slipping, falling,
we collide
.
finding another
and learning to lean
an economy of movement
security
so we huddle
and shelter
surrounded in pair
.
we of the joining wings
merging and taking to flight
.
if only for moments

It’s like being in a biology class and a literature class at the same time.
My flash fiction: http://logo-ligi.com/2012/06/21/a-silent-moment/
Gorgeous, reality and symbolism combined in the imagery you evoked.
thank you!? heading to yours now
thank you very much!

This is quite a brilliant take on it. Mine is here http://boomiebol.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/damsel-fly-friday-fictioneers-622/
Lovely poem.. and terrific quote by Eco. It is soooo true. Boomiebol…thank you for visiting and commenting on mine.
I agree with Kwadwo and I’d add language in there too – excellent poem.
Here’s mine: http://womanontheedgeofreality.com/2012/06/22/friday-fictioneers-gramps-and-me/
This is very profound. I like the way that it speaks of one thing while implying that it speaks of another but without underlining it. Sort of “see it if you can but it doesn’t matter if you can’t”. Beautifully written. Mine’s on the list.
Yes man! This is good. Mine is here and linked as well: http://readinpleasure.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/fridayfictioneers-the-omen/
thank you
It’s close to fourteen years of marriage for me but I’ve just lately been really getting that. And ‘horizontal differencing’ is an amazing phrase.

I have read this one man
Who has a way with words…
Great job 🙂
I love this poem. bravo.

Hey I dont know why but all I could think about was marriage when you wrote this. When you marry the right person is like you find that other wing and you can fly better and higher. I really love it and it just made me feel really happy and want to call my husband and tell him how much I love him. Thank you

perfect. thanks. that’s the relational perspective it grows from.
Lovely poem, so hopeful. Lop-sided and clumsy we are, seeking our other wing.

thank you very much
One of the best this weekend. You might want to frame this one. Beautiful words in motion or at rest, just like the photo prompt. Well done. I’m re-reading it for the umpteenth time.
Aloha,

You made the realities of life crystal clear…
wow! i’m going to have to reread it!
thank you very much 🙂
Thank you SO much Doug. You are very encouraging. I had been telling my wife (www.lifeinrelationtoart.wordpress.com) about you as someone who is so generous and supportive of all efforts. I thank you sincerely.

Like finding your twin-flame, your soul-mate. Nicely done.

This is like a club. You each work on a theme and compare notes. Am I right? Good vehicle of motivation I would think.
Pretty much – try it out! Madison posts a photograph each Wednesday and whomever would like writes 100 words of creativeness instigated thereby. It IS a good regular exercise and can result in some amazing little things 🙂
Beautifully composed!
